Hi everyone!
Day one was nothing less than a success. I don't know if I'll be able to feel so good about subsequent days as I do about this one, so I'm taking advantage while I can ;)
Truth be told, this event was a success before the first stride was taken. Girls on the Run is really thrilled with the tremendous level of support you all have provided. Well over $5,000 has been raised for them, and we're still building!
I want to thank everyone that came out in support today. Mayor McDonnell, Lisa & Denny Galati, Joe McCormac, Mike & Libby Wilcox (and family), Mike Bannes, Guy Oujdeuan (sorry Guy, I know I messed that up!), Sean Fitzgerald, Jim Radt, Adam & Becka Williams, Erica & Wayne Robinson, Tom & Kim Puszkar (and family) & Jeremiah Ingram.
Crew Chief Lauren knocked the ball out of the park in keeping me well nourished, well hydrated and best of all, SAFE on the roadway. The pictures are great too, many of which are already posted below.
You all being there today demonstrated the true spirit of what MO-AR TREK is all about - getting people out and active! Tom, you got me with that shirt man, thanks for that.
I'm resting up for another big day tomorrow. Don't worry Lisa G. - I ate well this evening :)
Only 274.64 miles to go, but who's counting?
Jason
It looks like Day 1 went great. Congrats on the great start. Just think, you're only 274.64 miles away from an Irish Car Bomb, sponsored by yours truly!

I know you say "it's only one foot in front of the other", but I am pretty sure my steps would stop right after 1 mile. Good job and keep up the high spirits.

Having once decided to achieve a certain task, achieve it at all costs of tedium and distaste. The gain in self-confidence of having accomplished a tiresome labor is immense.

Hi Jason:
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting this adventure underway! We met last year at the Lewis & Clark expo and chat occasionally on Dean's blog. Hopefully we will only experience one 10 mile marathon in our lifetime.
The blog is great and the pictures are awesome! I'm sure I'll be checking in daily. It looks like you might be seeing a little rain tomorrow but the remainder of the week looks pretty clear with a significant increase in temperatures.
I had really hoped to join you for some miles on day one or two but due to a 5k today, family obligations tomorrow, and work, you will be too far down the road for me to make the trek. But I'm definitely there in spirit!
The money you are raising will impact many lives and the cause will hopefully make many more think about this epidemic. Enjoy the adventure, the miles, the memories, and as always...run, walk, crawl, just never give up!
Best of luck,
Roger
So proud of you...continue to do the damn thing!!
ReplyDeleteHi Roger! I do, of course, rember you very well. How can two people who ran through a hurricane together (quite litterally) every forget something like that? Thanks for the post Roger, it's great to hear from you...Jason
ReplyDeleteAlex, did you google MOAR TREK and find that quote about "tedium and distance"??? Jokes aside, it's very inspiring:)
ReplyDeletelike i said yesterday, shortly before begging off the trail to have a bagel, your running determination and willingness to use it for a greater cause is inspirational to untold numbers, jason.
ReplyDeletethe first thing i told becca when i got in the car with her was "i wish i was still running with him."
it was a fantastic morning! congratulations on such a successful first day!
and thanks for giving me -- and the others -- the opportunity to grab onto the coattails of your grand adventure, jason.
have a great week!
Good Morning Jason and way to go son! I hear it's raining up there today...but I know Lauren has your backside! :)

Jason,
ReplyDeleteI know you have your sleep, nutrition and down time as top priority. Would never expect differently! Never for one second wonder if others are thinking about you, invisioning you running and sending thoughts of encouragement every single second you are running. We are all with you every single step!
Lisa
